Not to change the subject, but didn’t you ever wonder why getting high’s a crime in the first place?

YMSB do a great job of jamming out this ol’ John Hartford tune.
This twangy toker song from Hank Flamingo helps keep the party rollin’….and speaking of “rolling”, be sure to check out the size of the joint they roll up at the end of this video:
On this day, for the past several years, people got high. A lot of people. And a lotta high.
The earliest event Wiki mentions for today is “1303 – The University of Rome La Sapienza is instituted by Pope Boniface VIII” and the most recent is “2008 – Danica Patrick wins the Indy Japan 300 becoming the first female driver in history to win an Indy car race.”
A few other things that happened include:
1836 – Wisconsin Territory is created by an act of Congress.
1914 – National Guard kill 19 men, women, and children during a coal-miner’s strike in Colorado.
1916 – The Chicago Cubs play their first game at what is now called Wrigley Field.
Some of that special birthday cake goes out to Craig Frost and George Takei
Somone go get Muddy and Mick what they are askin’ for, and please be sure to bring back a LOT of it!
Parents Television Council labeled the episode this song was featured in as the “Worst TV Show of the Week.“
That’s actually a good thing, no?
A couple o’ lightweights pay tribute to one of the greatest.
8-foot glass bong, live on stage?? Cypress Hill knows how to throw down!

Today is a special day for a lot of kind folks all over the country (world?), and a large part of this holiday is good music & good times! The Ancient Order will be celebrating today by featuring an appropriately-themed song every hour. So load it up and get it ready, ’cause there are 2-dozen different tunes that’ll keep you reaching for your lighter.
The party starts off with this Steppenwolf classic being played by an early Gov’t Mule. ’tis the tale of a man who is watching TV and gets disgusted with a guest on the news who is unleashing a “vicious attack on the grasses“…

It was on this day in 1995 that a 168 people were killed when a truck parked outside the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma exploded. The attackers choose that particular day because of what had happened 1993 on this same date – ATF agents set fire to the Branch Davidian’s compound, ending a 51-day siege but resulting in 81 people dying.
Earliest thing Wiki mentions for this day is “65 – The freedman Milichus betrayed Piso’s plot to kill the Emperor Nero and the conspirators were all arrested” and the most recent is “1999 – The German Bundestag returns to Berlin, the first German parliamentary body to meet there since the Reichstag was dissolved in 1945.“
A few other events that occurred on this date are:
1776 – Samual Whittemore had a rough day, but ended up pulling through it. This monument pretty much explains what happened.
1943 – Dr. Hofmann takes a long bike ride home from work.
1987 – The Tracey Ullman Show debuts a short cartoon about a family from Springfield.
1989 – 47 sailors aboard the USS Iowa are killed when a gun turrent explodes.
Happy Birthday to Hayden Christensen, Kate Hudson, Valerie Plame Wilson, Tim Curry and Alan Price.
